UCSF Health’s Bayfront Medical Building, San Francisco, CA 2024
A wayfinding landmark sited along a major San Francisco street, this playful monumental sculpture is highly visible to both pedestrians and passerby in vehicles. The artwork invites engagement and is a memorable icon for the nearby UCSF Medical Center. The flaring horn form captures and amplifies ambient sound; the public is invited to “listen to the sky”. Ambient sound is complemented by the sound of tubular bells atop the sculpture; crystals catch sunlight, glimmering in the sun and casting rainbows on passersby below. Lit at night, it has a dramatic presence.
