House of Tree
Architecture
Sonoma County, CA • 2011
House of Tree is the latest in Wowhaus’ series of architectural experiments in high function, low-impact construction, and minimalist living. This ‘treehouse on stilts’ is fully permitted as a free-standing observation tower, a vertical respite whose helical-anchor foundation protects the root system of the coast redwood trees overhead. Lit with kerosene lanterns and serviced by an outhouse at the base of the tree, House of Tree is completely off the grid.
